Every brand starts somewhere. Ours started with a temporary name and a spreadsheet.
The first name
Before VIYLSA was VIYLSA, it had another name: AYLSA.
It was a temporary name, the one we used in the early days, including when we pitched at our incubation centre. It got us started, but we knew from the beginning that it wasn't the final one. A company that wants to last needs a name that is unique and has the right vibe.
So we decided to find that name together.
The naming process
We turned it into a proper process, and each of us took part.
- Everyone brings names. Each co-founder collected a long list of name ideas on their own.
- Shortlist. Each of us picked our best five.
- The spreadsheet. We put all the names into one shared sheet: five from me, five from Saqlain and five from Aleena. That gave us fifteen names to compare side by side.
- First round of voting. We all voted and scored every name.
- The final three. The top three names moved on to a final round of voting.

And the winner is…
After the final round, one name came out on top with both the most votes and the highest average score among the three finalists.
VIYLSA.
It was the clear choice for all of us, and the moment we picked it, the company felt real in a new way. It was no longer a project with a placeholder name, but a brand with an identity of its own.
Why we did it this way
We could have picked a name in one conversation. Instead, we gave every founder an equal voice and let the numbers decide. Choosing the name together made it ours, and it set the pattern for how we make decisions as a team.
And from that name, everything else started to take shape: our logo, our colours, our website, and the story you're reading now.
The three of us who did the voting are on our About page.
